Recovery utilities take advantage of the fact that the actions performed when emptying the Windows Recycle Bin are reversible.

When a file is deleted, the operating system only changes the attribute of the space used by the file from an "occupied" status to an "available" status. The file information is hidden until it can be unlocked by a recovery utility. It is a good idea to avoid writing files to the affected drive partition to steer clear of writing over data that you wish to recover. Learn more>>

After booting from the CD/DVD you will see a Windows environment with Networking, so you can just recover your data (copy files to a USB drive or Network drive). Many other useful utilities are included besides data restoring utility: Web Browser, File Manager, Terminal Client, Partition Manager, Task Manager, Command Prompt, etc...

Recover Your Lost Files with Powerful Software

The software is the ultimate data restoring tool, providing you with a reliable solution even if your system refuses to boot. The software is easy to use regardless of your level of knowledge or experience when it comes to recovering lost data.

There are three versions available including a basic data restoring suite for home users, a professional version containing additional recovery tools for more advanced users and an enterprise edition for businesses and enterprises.

Most of us have experienced data loss at one point or another. More often than not, losing important data is down to accidental deletion or formatting a disk thinking that the data contained on it is safely backed up elsewhere even when it isn't. If your computer has been attacked by a hacker or fallen victim to any malicious software, then you may also find yourself in a similar situation where you simply cannot seem to be able to locate your lost files. The software provides the ultimate solution for both home and business users, regardless of your level of experience. The more advanced versions also contain a wider range of tools to help you get back what you've lost. Even if your computer completely refuses to boot, our tool should be able to help you.

This powerful file restore tool supports a wide range of storage media including both internal and external hard disks, solid state hard drives and flash media. Our software even supports virtual hard disk images. In the event that the deleted data was stored on your primary hard disk or your operating system fails to boot, you can create a bootable CD allowing you to start up the computer independently of the operating system. This also ensures that no further modifications are made to the contents of the hard disk, since this can potentially end up overwriting the deleted data thus making it permanently unrecoverable.

Searching for and recovering files is a quick and easy process and one which is also highly customizable due to advanced scripting support allowing you to search for custom file signatures. Less experienced users can still take advantage of support for a wide variety of built-in file signatures, allowing them to search for specific types of files such as images, documents, audio tracks or videos. The wide range of recovery options provides users with a great deal of power, ultimately presenting them with the best chance of getting lost data back intact. You can scan specific disk sector rangers, recover named streams and take advantage of a range of name conflict resolution methods.

The tool comes with Active@ Disk Editor 3.0, while the Professional addition adds Active@ Partition Recovery and the Enterprise edition comes with Boot Disk Creator and a number of other useful utilities.

How to recover files if your USB drive is damaged or got wet?

Recovering files on a USB drive with restore software is as easy as with your hard drive. In order to successfully recover data from a USB drive it is necessary to determine what happened to the drive. The cause of data loss may be a broken controller or damaged file system. Let's take a look at a cause of data loss.

1. Mechanical damage

Causes: USB drivers are small and light devices which are easy to take into a pocket, but they are also easy to break. If your USB has broken you may recover files, but first of all you should repair it. You may restore all data only if NAND is not broken.

You can notice mechanical damages immediately: a modified geometry of the connector, damage to the body, etc.

Warning: Use your USB drive with care.

How to recover files if USB drive is mechanical damaged? The connector should be replaced and the data can be recovered with recover deleted files. However recovery is impossible if the memory chip is damaged.

2. Thermal and electrical damage

Causes: The reason for such damages may be a poorly designed device, problems with static electricity or the proximity of the hot items.

Warning: Do not expose a USB drive to direct sun light or place it near hot objects.

How to recover files if a USB drive was thermally or electrically damaged? The connector is replaced and the data is recovered with the software. However recovery is impossible if the memory chip is damaged.

3. Memory and controller failures

Causes: Each USB drive has a controller which manages flash memory and serves as an interface to the host computer. Controller is very sensitive to external influences like the power surges and static electricity. It can also fail due to internal electrical damage.

Warning: Keep in mind that the ability to record data on the USB drive is limited to a few hundred thousand times. When it is exhausted write operations start to failure. A USB drive is much more reliable in read operations rather than write ones; as excessive writing can promptly kill the drive.

How to recover files if NAND and controllers of USB drive have failed? YIn case of internal damage you wouldn't be able to restore data with software, though sometimes this kind of failures are intermittent meaning that you have a chance to get your data back with recovery software if you act quickly.

4. USB drive malfunction of logical character

Causes: The file system can be corrupted due to unsafe or premature extraction of the USB stick, the voltage surges and outages or due to user actions.

The USB drive is not damage but file system recognized it as an unformatted or blank and you can't to get access to your data.

Warning: Extract the USB drive from a computer safely (use Eject operation first).

How to recover files? If USB drive file system is corrupted the operating system will not recognize the drive even if it is physically undamaged. Moreover, the operating system (Windows) can prompt a user to format a USB drive. DO NOT do it unless you are sure that there is no data on your USB drive. Try to search data on the USB stick with recovery software first.

5. Water inside

Causes: Moisture is one of the worst enemies of HDD and USB drives. It becomes a cause of corrosion of electronic components and details.

Warning: Keep your USB drive far from water.

How to recover files? Dry the wet USB drive first then, if it is working, make a copy of data from it. Remember that corrosion can continue to develop inside even if the USB drive is operational and eventually lead to a failure.

How to recover files properly?

To recover deleted files from hard disks you can use the software. But you should keep in mind that recovering files is an important process. It requires a special attention from you.

For example, the effect of recovery after an accidental or inadvertent formatting is determined by the location of files on your hard drive.

Files can be fragmented or non-fragmented on the disk. Fragmented files are tend to yield a partial recovery, while the fragmented files can be restored as a whole.

These guidelines will help you recover deleted files properly.

  1. While recovering deleted files do not save data that you found and hope to recover onto the drive where they were deleted. It can damage other files or data in FAT/MFT. Best of all save recovered files onto another logical, removable, network or USB drive.
  2. While recovering deleted files you should abstain from writing any data or install software onto the drive containing your important data that has just been accidentally deleted.
Installation of the software or writing other files could make your deleted files unrecoverable. Our suggestion: take the whole hard drive out of the computer and plug it into another computer with data restoring software or use a bootable floppy with the easy to use software.
  3. While recovering deleted files remember that you might not be able to access data on the volume if either MBR or boot sector is corrupted.
  4. Do not perform defragmentation of a hard disk containing deleted files you are going to recover. Defragmentation will drastically decrease chances of successful recovery.
